Only Gym Rule

This isn’t our only rule because CFGR will remain a family friendly place.  However, this is our only written rule:

No Whining or Excuses!!!

If you are injured, tell the trainer.  If you are afraid of getting injured, tell the trainer.  If you don’t want to do a particular exercise because an injury is still on the mend, tell the trainer.  This isn’t whining and these aren’t excuses…they are common sense and should be done.

If you didn’t sleep well prior to working out, so what.  Most of us probably didn’t get enough sleep either.  Stop whining.  We don’t want to hear it.

If you didn’t eat the whole day prior to the workout or you ate too much junk…oh well.  Your fault.  Stop at the store and buy some meat, fruit, and nuts.  Throw them into a cooler; there, your set!  No excuses.  We don’t want to hear them.

If you are dehydrated, too bad…start drinking plenty of water about an hour and a half prior to the WOD.  If you are yawning during the WOD, you should have drank more water.  Don’t use it as an excuse.

If you are working awfully hard or long hours, don’t waste our time with this one.  We don’t want to hear it.

If you don’t want to do a particular exercise because it may cause or aggravate an injury, then certainly don’t do it and tell the trainer.  But if you don’t like a particular exercise because you can’t do it very well…who cares.  Do the best that you can and become better at it.  If you are thinking about whining out loud about it…we don’t want to hear it.

no whining

The problem with whining is that it doesn’t only put the whiner in a weakened mindset, but that weakness may bleed over to the rest of the group.  This isn’t acceptable at CrossFit Grand Rapids where everyone is already pushing towards their physical and mental threshold.

The problem with excuses is that they become a crutch that you can lean on as a reason for poor effort or substandard performance.  Instead of stating your excuse, suffer through your workout silently.  Remember what caused your miserableness and try your darndest not to repeat it!
